Moscow Grooves Institute was created in 1995 by two Moscow artists – Arkady Marto (“Megapolis”, “Heat of the Earth”, “2 AVOCADOS”) and Boris Nazarov. It has 4 albums: “Surround Wednesday” (1997, the most part of the album – live presentation of the duet at the “Substation” radio station), “Pizza” (1999), “Commercial” (2000) and “Tangibility” (2002, Vynil singles from this album were released at the labels Netimage/Foundation in the UK and MPLS Ltd. in the USA).

In 2005 Citadel Records released the first parcel of 12-inch records, including the album “Tangibility” with 4 tracks: Mountains Wedding, Toys&Tools, Open Air and Twisted.

Remake of the romance “Chrysanthemum in the Garden” together with the singer Olga Noel was among the best tracks of many world radio stations and in 2003 maxi-single “Les Chrysanthemes” (under the name of OLF project) was released in Russia. The band has 4 videos of the songs “Stereophonique”, “Voyage”, “2 Professors” and “Les Chrysanthemes” that were rotated on the MTV Russia, Muz-TV as well as on the Ukrainian and Belarusian musical channels.

Among MGI’s successful projects are remixes for “Mummy Troll’s”, “Megapolis’s”, “Tatu’s” and tracks of other bands. In 2001 MGI took part in “Mummy Troll’s” concert in Gostiny Dvor and recorded the version of Viktor Zoy’s song “Malysh” that had never been released before. For a long time this song was the leader of many music charts.
Twice for the past years the band was the finalist of the French Electronic Music Contest. European labels (such as Pork Recordings, George V, Les Marquis, Pschent etc.) also choose MGI’s tracks for their compilations. Today, after two years of concerts as a quintet, MGI is again a duet with stronger and more dance-floor program. The artists define their new style as hardcore-jazz. It’s the total improvisation, the play without fixed forms, unpredictable combination of different tracks. Sometimes it sounds quite radically and ends up in a complete noise.

In February 2005 Citadels Records is going to release MGI’s fifth album called “Les etoiles sont plus proches avec les yeux fermees” (“Stars are Closer when Your Eyes are Closed”). The concept of the album is very close to MGI’s concert.
